MARGARET FROM SARATOGA
In Jan 2007 I made a firm decision to do something about my weight and introduce strength training to my life style. My weight had escalated over the last 8 months due to a new medication I was taking for my follow up treatment to breast cancer from 4 years ago.
The side affects were quite bad, apart from the weight gain it also affected bone density and joint pain. Since stopping the medication the joint pain has gone but the weight still stayed on.
I have found that going to Curves has helped me mentally with my body image. I know that my workouts are helping me firm up and improve my muscle tone. The staff are very helpful and have a wonderful sense of humour which makes for a great time together.
I am always keen and eager to get my workouts in . The flexibility of no set times for each workout is great.

My big five-oh was approaching and I decided I needed an increase in overall strength and body tone and I was looking for lasting results. Curves is exactly right for me and I am very pleased with the results.
I had previously tried gym sessions and found them way too boring and they took a huge chunk out of my day.
Curves 30 minute circuit is quick and there’s no problem fitting it in with my daily routine.
Combined with sensible eating & my usual power walking I can maintain weight control and indulge in my passion for fashion! Now I can try on clothes that fit me just fine!
The Curves instructors provide a fun atmosphere and I have met lots of lovely Curvette ladies – we all laugh and smile together. I now have the motivation to move with a spring in my step!

I joined Curves two and a half years ago and I have completed well over 300 workouts – I love the achievement of this! It makes me feel great inside and therefore really healthy.
I have lots of fun when I workout at Curves, I’ve met lots of great people and have developed a great rapport with the supportive staff and trainers.
I love that it’s only 30 minutes – you can make it work for you individually by how hard you work.
I feel so comfortable when I do my workouts as I know the Curves environment is friendly, open, honest, supportive and caring. Everyone openly encourages each other.
I love the feeling I get when I receive one of the milestone t-shirts – I have 3 now and I wear them with pride. It’s great that Curves promotes the acknowledgement for such an achievement!

After a netball injury I was feeling lost and unable to play and I got fed up with always just walking the dog. And with teenage children it has been a long time of just “being someone’s Mum” and always doing for others.
I needed something just for me.
Curves has reminded me that I am an individual woman and it is OK to do something just for me. Since coming to Curves my knee reconstruction hardly ever hurts – I had gotten to a point where I thought it would hurt for the rest of my life but now I never even think about it! Curves has given me more energy, inspired me to eat better, exercise more and lose weight…I have gone from a size 16 to a 12 in 14 months! It’s nice when friends tell you how well you look. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and keep me motivated.
I love going to Curves and will continue to do so for many years to come!

After some trepidation, I decided to join Curves. I was concerned about my age and level of fitness.
My concerns were soon allayed by the friendly staff who competently introduced me to the circuit and supervised my techniques.
My age proved to be no drawback as each participant works at their own pace to raise their heart rate to a level appropriate to their age.
There is always a cheerful, friendly approach by the members (regularly supervised by staff) and I really enjoy my time at Curves. I go early in the morning on three days a week so I still have the rest of the day for my other activities.
I have had a gradual loss of weight but have lost many centimetres from all areas of my figure and am much more toned and energetic. My great success has been the improvement in the strength of my legs and knees which were affected by arthritis after a car accident.

When I walked into Curves Erina I was taking the first step to a better kind of “middle age”.
I was becoming increasingly fed up with clothes not fitting anymore, saggy bits and a rapidly growing number of wrinkles…not to mention an expanding waistline! I decided that serious action needed to be taken.
I’ve done heaps of fitness in my past and had even led a massive aerobics group during the “World Workout” for Live Aid in the 80’s. However, a serious illness robbed me of much of my strength & fitness so the idea of a one hour aerobics or step class horrified me.
I read about the concept of Curves in a local newspaper drop and I thought it sounded more appropriate for me at this stage of my life.
On arrival I was warmly greeted and put at ease… no one judges you – they embrace you! All was explained really well and the staff seemed genuinely interested in me as a person.
The 30 minute workout fits well into my schedule and the women only factor is a big plus.
I can see that Curves is going to help me enjoy my 50s as a firmer, fitter and healthier baby boomer.

I decided to join Curves because I was tired of constant dieting.
I wanted a lifestyle change to permanently exercise more and eat better.
I love the friendly atmosphere and staff, the games, the different things happening like Survivor, Food Drives, Biggest Loser. It helps me retain my sanity.
Being a mother is very demanding, especially when you work full time.
Curves has given me back myself – now I have some “me” time.
